We start by recording all the different types of relationships we have with other people, then discuss the difference between weak and strong relationships. Participants then work on a ‘relationship inventory’, mapping and discussing the different relationships they have on a quadrant that marks out close and distant relationships on one axis and easy and difficult relationships on the other axis. The group then analyses a series of progressive stories about options, beliefs and actions in starting relationships and in dealing with conflict. The group views two humorous videos that give assertiveness tips. We then discuss ending relationships. Finally participants discuss and record their ideas for making changes to their relationships and on starting or ending relationships.
