Finding and Keeping a Home

We start by sharing good memories of our home at an earlier time in our lives, moving into a wider discussion about our home now. We then discuss our ideal home. The workshop summarises our right to good housing and participants are shown a short video on homelessness. Participants then discuss disclosure about our mental distress to landlords and tenants’ protection against discrimination. We share different housing options, information on moving into a new home, and things we need in a new home. We brainstorm threats to our housing situation if we go into crisis and identify the skills, resources and supports we need to keep our home.

PURPOSE OF WORKSHOP

  • Our experiences of housing.
  • Our housing wish list and our housing rights.
  • How to find, move and stay in the home of our choice
